Is 1 GB equal to 1,000 MB or 1,024 MB?
Officially, 1 GB = 1,000 MB — the gigabyte is a decimal (SI) unit. The 1,024 factor belongs to the binary unit properly called a gibibyte (1 GiB = 1,024 MiB). The confusion exists because Windows and some apps calculate in binary but print "GB", so a file Windows calls "1 GB" is really 1 GiB = 1,073,741,824 bytes.
What is 8192 MB in GB?
8,192 MB = 8.192 GB in decimal units — but if those 8,192 MB describe RAM (a binary context), it is exactly 8 GiB, which is why memory modules show numbers like 8,192. Powers of two (2,048, 4,096, 8,192, 16,384) almost always signal a binary context.
Why does my 128 GB phone show less available storage?
Two reasons stack up. The operating system and pre-installed apps consume 10–20 GB before you store anything. And if the file manager counts in binary while the box uses decimal, 128 GB displays as about 119 "GB" (really GiB). Nothing is missing — it is accounting, not shrinkage.
Which is bigger, MB or GB?
GB is bigger — 1,000× bigger in decimal units. A megabyte holds about one minute of MP3 audio or a third of a smartphone photo; a gigabyte holds roughly 250 photos or an hour of standard-definition video.
How many MB is 1.5 GB?
1.5 GB = 1,500 MB in decimal units (1.5 × 1,000). In binary terms, 1.5 GiB = 1,536 MiB (1.5 × 1,024). For mobile data allowances — always decimal — 1.5 GB means exactly 1,500 MB of transfer.
