About Us
mbpstobytes.com was built for one surprisingly common moment: you run a speed test, it says “100 Mbps,” and then your download manager reports something like “12.5 MB/s.” People assume something is broken—when it’s actually just bits vs bytes.
So I made a tool that’s intentionally simple: type in Mbps (or Bytes/s), and the result updates instantly. No extra steps, no confusing toggles, no “wait for calculate.” Just clean conversions you can trust for quick comparisons.
What this tool does
- Real-time conversion between Mbps and Bytes per second (B/s)
- Helpful equivalents like KB/s and MB/s so you can match what apps display
- Decimals control so the numbers look clean in reports and messages
- Share/copy support to quickly send a summary to a client or teammate
What we care about
- Clarity over clutter. The interface stays minimal so the math stays obvious.
- Speed. The calculator should feel instant—even on mid-range phones.
- Privacy by default. You shouldn’t need an account to do a simple conversion.
- Practical accuracy. We use the common networking convention (1 Mbps = 1,000,000 bits/s) and clearly explain where real-world overhead can affect results.
